About

I’m currently a doctoral researcher in Social and Political Thought at the University of Sussex. My theses title is “Social Systems and the Senkakus: Can Luhmann’s social systems theory explain the emerging situation in East Asia?”. I am researching Sino-Japanese relations from a constructivist international relations perspective paying particular regard to Niklas Luhmann’s social systems theory which I believe has the potential of both allowing re-entry of realist theories of international relations whilst also replacing the anthropocentric framework of the dominant constructivist theories.

I am also interested in complexity theory, Black Swan theory, geopolitics, nuclear strategy and Nietzsche.
